The Academic Scholarship cycle is now open!

This scholarship fund is to help Transgender students with education-related expenses while pursuing a degree or certificate from a college, university, or technical/vocational program with a satellite campus or permanent presence in Kent County, MI. There is no residency requirement.

This award is open to people who identify as Trans or Transgender (which may include Non-binary, Two-Spirit, third gender, transsexual, and/or any other non-cis gender identity) and who demonstrate financial need. No age or GPA requirement. Students of color and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Student privacy is respected. We will not share any identifying information without the applicant’s written permission.

The application cycle is currently closed. 

NOTE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the opening of the application cycle has been delayed. Expect an announcement in late November or early December 2025.

To apply, follow these steps:

1. Double-check that you meet the following criteria:

  • You must identify as Trans or Transgender (this may include Non-binary, Two-Spirit, third gender, transsexual, and/or any other non-cis gender identity).
  •  You are pursuing a degree or certificate in Kent County, MI. This should be from an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational program in Kent County, MI (including satellite campuses like GVSU and Ferris). Vocational programs in cosmetology, yoga, welding, coding, massage therapy, etc. will also be accepted. There are no residency requirements.
  • You must demonstrate financial need.

2. Complete Online Application

Click the button below!

  1. Create an account with Kaleidoscope.
    This will allow you to save, return to, and edit your application and essay any time before the deadline. 
    When setting up a Kaleidoscope profile, please use your chosen name!
  2. Complete the application. 
    This consists of standard application questions, a statement of goals (500 words or less), and a Financial Release form. 
  3. Edits allowed until the deadline.
    You will be able to log back in and edit/upload anything until the official deadline.
